How Tasking Works

The Albedo Tasking API is powered by a model and simulation of our first satellite - orders are scheduled and fulfilled using these internal systems towards a realistic emulation of our projected on-orbit capabilities.

Our first satellite will be launched at a 53 degree inclination and provide a variety of image captures, as compared to satellites in sun-synchronous orbits (SSO).

It is worth noting that the 53 degree inclination results in two different effects:

  1. Albedo is unable to image anything above the 53 degree north latitude and anything below the 53 degree south latitude. Tangibly, Albedo is unable to image much of Russia, Scandinavia, nor much of Canada.
  2. For a single satellite, one can expect one or two revisits per week.

Currently, our systems support tasking-related functionality up to a week in advance - customers are able to place an order anywhere from the present moment to seven days from now.

In our Tasking API, you can:

  • Discover potential access opportunities to inform tasking
  • Submit tasking orders using a variety of parameters
  • Check on the status of your order
  • Understand the timeline of your order: what happened and when?

What’s Next

Once the imagery for your tasking order has been collected, it will be updated to include links to the catalog items associated with the imagery used to satisfy the order. Read on in How Data Access Works to learn more about the imagery itself and of course, how to access it.
